Writings, issues and observations from Cleveland, Ohio by Will Kessel

SANDY HOOK, CT — My bride and I have taken a couple of days off to visit family in Connecticut.

The drive up was event-free. In fact, my car got over 33 mpg on the way up.

We spent yesterday in Mystic, CT, which was mostly a bust. Too hot, and nothing much to do. I took a panorama in the museum harbor, though. I have yet to fire up the iBook to find out how well the new panoramic tripod head works. It seemed to work well, though.

The other thing we did, somewhat spontaneously, was to go to the US Submarine Museum in New London. We toured the USS Nautilus, which was awesome. I have not been on a submarine before (supposedly I was on the Cod when I was small, but it beats me if I can remember it), so this was a unique experience for me. Neither my bride nor I could imagine living in a submariner’s quarters…

By the time you read this, we’ll have been to — and left — The Big Apple, starting our walking tour at Grand Central, heading over to Times Square, and up Broadway to the CNN tower by Central Park. We’ll have lunch somewhere in here before 1:00, as we’re attending the CNN tour shortly afterward. Then it’s down the Avenue of the Americas back to 42nd St and over to Grand Central for our return. We should be safely on the train by the time you read this post…

Be back on Friday, and I’ll probably post next on Sunday, unless I get a chance to get to a computer beforehand. The possibility is next to nil, however, as our host’s computer is sick with the flu.

Have a great week!
